UMYF
UMYF
(United Methodist Youth Fellowship) is the large-group gathering for youth at St. Luke UMC. Outside of
Sunday school and worship, it is the primary location for Christian education each week for youth.
UMYF begins with dinner and fellowship time, followed by time spent in study. There are also opportunities for mission and service as well. Along with Ben, our Director of Youth Ministries, a group of parents and other adult volunteers help to lead times of discussion and exploration.
At various times throughout the year, youth have the opportunity to take trips designed to encourage Christian fellowship and growing in faith. Some of these trips involve just the youth from St. Luke UMYF, while others are open to all North Carolina Conference youth (visit the conference trips page for more information).
If you would like to know more about UMYF, please contact Ben Howard at 919-776-2012 x108. Sunday nights are exciting times for youth at St. Luke - we hope to see you there!
"May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN! " (UMYF Benediction, from Numbers 6:22-24)

Lock-In and Pilgrimage
Lock-In: October 16-17 @ St. Luke UMC 8:00pm – 9:00am
- The deadline for the lock-in is October 11. By this date each student must have turned in a $5 non-refundable deposit and have a medical release form on file at the church (this is the notarized medical form from kick-off - if you need one, visit the forms page and download it). The only other additional cost to the lock-in is that each student must bring a package of diapers the night of the lock-in. The diapers will be collected at the door and will be donated to the CUOC.
- Please note that our start time is 8:00pm, and so please make sure your student eats dinner before he or she comes to the event. We will be providing snacks and a breakfast meal, but not dinner.
- What to bring: While most students will not want to sleep we will have designated sleeping rooms (1 for guys and 1 for girls). Feel free to send a sleeping bag and pillow with them. They are also welcome to bring games, crafts, and other activities to do with their friends.
- What not to bring: Energy drinks, cell phones, ipods. We do not allow energy drinks at any of our youth functions, so if we see them we will dispose of them. Concerning cell phones, ipods, and the like we cannot be responsible for each student's electronics and as such it may be better if they do not bring them.
Pilgrimage: November 13–15 in Fayetteville, NC
- The deadline for Pilgrimage is October 14. By this date I must have received a $50 non-refundable deposit and have a medical release form on file at the church (this is the notarized medical form from kick-off - if you need one, visit the forms page and download it).
- The total cost of pilgrimage is $100/student. Families of two or more pay $100 for the first student $90 for the second, and $80 for the third. As always, partial and full scholarships are available.
- Pilgrimage is open to all youth active at St. Luke UMC or in the St. Luke UMYF program. More details will be forthcoming.
