United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose it is to know God and to experience freedm as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church . . . united in the world.
United Methodist Women gather together to study God's Word and to find practical application of that Word in daily life. Through service, hospitality, nurture and education, the United Methodist Women seek to both be disciples and help to make disciples
Some of the ways the United Methodist Women contribute to the life of the church and community are:
- Presenting Bibles to babies who are baptized in the church
- Supporting ministries within the church such as the Mary Tulluck Fund, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), the St. Luke UMC Preschool and the Prayer Shawl Ministry
- Supporting ministries within the community such as Highway to Healing, HAVEN, Habitat for Humanity, Helping Hands, the Breadbasket and CUOC (Christians United Outreach Center)
- Providing books for the church library through the UMW Reading Program
- Providing hams for bereaved families of church members
