Other Activities
Sunday school and Sunday nights are not the only times that our children come together. Throughout the year we offer a variety of activities that offer times of spiritual development, fellowship and service to others.
The Christian Year
At particular times of the year we offer activities designed to teach our children about the Christian calendar and its significance in the life of the church.
- Afternoon ADVENTure - teaches children the meaning of Advent, a time of waiting for the Christ child at Christmas
- Angel Breakfast - an event for preschoolers that celebrates Christmas.
- Children's Christmas Eve Service - a special service of worship just for our children modeled on the "Spontaneous Christmas Paegant"
- Valentine Tea - an intergenerational event for children and our senior members. This is an opportunity to live out the true meaning of love as expressed in a community of faith.
- Easter Celebration - an opportunity for children preschool to 5th grade to experience the joy of Easter through story and crafts. The Celebration ends with an Easter egg hunt.
- Stations of the Cross and Palm Sunday - the children walk the path of Jesus to the cross, visiting storytellers and Biblical characters along the way. In worship the children process palms into the sanctuary.
Summer Activities
We don't slow down in the summer! It's a great time to come together and be in fellowship with friends, to spend time learning about God and getting out and working in service. Here are some of the things we do:
- Faith Friends Camp - a Bible-based summer morning camp for preschoolers. They explore Bible stories and characters using arts and crafts, chapel time, music and missions, and story.
- Mission Explorers - an 8-week summer mission program for rising 4th, 5th and 6th graders from June through August. Each week the children experience a hands-on mission project followed by lunch. Recent locations have included Meals on Wheels, the Bread Basket, CUOC and Habitat for Humanity.
- Vacation Bible School - for 4-year-olds through 5th grade. Adult and youth volunteers help the children learn the meaning of Scripture through music, drama, games, crafts and storytelling.
