Adult Sunday School

At St. Luke, we have a variety of adult Sunday school classes, with something for everyone - men's classes, women's classes, classes for younger adults and those "a little older." Wherever you fit and wherever you are in your faith journey, there is a Sunday school class for you. All classes meet at 9:45 a.m. in the adult Sunday school wing upstairs, unless otherwise announced.

Adult Sunday School Classes
Class Room Description
Moffitt Class 222 For men of all ages. Organized in 1887, the class is named for its first teacher, Mr. T.R. Moffitt. The class begins with coffee, fellowship and singing from the Cokesbury Hymnal. Lessons are taught using the quarterly Adult Bible Study Series
Biddle Class 223 This class was founded by Margaret Biddle as the Young Adult Bible Class, and is now the oldest young adult class! The Biddle Class reaches out to our community through fellowship activities. Couples and singles are welcome
Seekers Class 225 This Sunday school class is for women of all ages. This is an in-depth Bible study class.
Mary and Martha Class 226 This class is for mothers with young children, birth through elementary school age. They seek to create a supportive environment through fellowship and by providing an opportunity for Bible study during this particular season of motherhood.
Asbury Fellowship Class 227 Organized in 1993, the Asbury Fellowship Class is for young adults with an emphasis on Christian fellowship. Members teach on a volunteer rotation. Two of their primary areas of involvement and support are the children's Sunday school program and the St. Luke Preschool.
Something More Class 228 For men and women, couples and singles, most of whom have older children or have recently become empty nesters, seeking to apply Christian principles to their daily lives. The Something More class encourages discussion about our individual and collective faith journeys. The class is taught using a volunteer rotation.
Young Adult Class 230 This class is the newest "young adult" class at St. Luke UMC, designed for young adults, both couples and singles.
Timothy Class 231 Organized in 2003, this class is for adults who are singles, couples or divorced, parents or non-parents. Like Timothy, we desire to develop our spirituality by recognizing that we have much to learn, and then taking the necessary steps to learn.
Friends in Christ 232 This is a class for senior adults, singles and couples. Members enjoy sharing their life experiences as they read and study God's word together, following the Holy Spirit to direct the choice of material to study.
Wesley Bible Class 233 An intergenerational class of women. The class was organized in 1922 and is named for John Wesley. A particular focus of the class is the sharing of concerns and the sending of cards of encouragement to those who are ill or bereaved. Lessons are taught by rotating volunteers using the Adult Bible Study Series.
A.S. Parker Class 234 This class for mature singles and couples meets in the Parker Chapel (Room #234). In the early 1950s the class was organized as a young adult fellowship class by Rev. A.S. Parker. A team of teachers facilitates the class discussion, and lessons are taught from the video-based Mickey Efird Bible Study Series.
Lucille Hunter Class 235 An enrichment class of spiritual guidance for women of all ages. Lucille Hunter was a beloved teacher and leader. This current class is the successor to two earlier classes dating back to the 1920s. Members work to be supportive of all church programs.
