Welcome
to the St. Luke
Church web site. Our hearts, our
minds and our doors are always open to all who enter our fellowship. If you are not a
member of our congregation we pray that you are a member of another local church
and that you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior. In the event you do not
have a church home please honor us with your presence so that we might extend to
you the right hand of fellowship. You will find that there is something
wonderful waiting for you in the ministries at St. Luke Church. We have a
fantastic
history
that will tell you about our beginnings in Sanford, NC in 1887. Our
web site will tell
you a lot about how God is working now at St. Luke so that we might accomplish
our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. The Bible shows us how
God wants us to work in the future. Importantly, we have a place for you
at St. Luke and we need you as much as you might need the love and support of
God and our caring congregation. We are an active church family, with many
events throughout the week. The foundation for our activities remains
our attendance in worship services and in Sunday School. The foundation
of our faith is Jesus Christ.
Worship Services
You may find that the
personality of one of our three worship services might fit your own personality
better than the others, or you might enjoy all of them. The gospel message
is the same at all services. We are blessed to have excellent preaching
and teaching from a senior pastor and an associate pastor who take turns
between the services to share their gifts and graces with us. The earliest
service meets Sundays at 8:30 AM in our Christian Life Center and uses
contemporary music and a relaxed dress code to meet the needs of anyone desiring
a more expressive style of worship. Come in, have a cup of coffee or juice and
enjoy great fellowship and the gospel.
A more traditional
service is held in the Casey Chapel at 8:45 AM each Sunday. With seating
for only about one hundred or so, the chapel service offers an intimate
atmosphere where you get to know everyone there - just like a big family
gathering. At 11:00 AM we have worship services in our sanctuary, with the
benefit of a full choir and pipe organ. Visit all three and pick the one that
best meets your needs. A nursery is provided for every service.
Children
Parents with babies will appreciate our
Crib Nursery on the same floor as the Sanctuary, Room 236 next to the Parker Chapel.
Comfortable surroundings with peaceful music in the background add to the
pleasant experience for your little ones. Pagers are provided in the event
your child just has to have the parent's touch. Toddlers through age four
have their separate facilities. Older children have their own SS classes
and, during the 11:00 service, those in K-5 are invited to attend the Children's
Church held in Casey Chapel next to the Sanctuary.
Sunday School
We have classes for all
ages and interests at St. Luke Church. Sunday School offers the
opportunity to get to know one another even better than just sitting on the same
pew in worship service. Better than that it offers the chance to know more
about the Lord. Check the descriptions of the adult SS classes at the Sunday School
link above. Youth classes and children's classes are grouped by age. Ask around and you'll find a class that fits you just right.
