Sunday School—It’s Not Just For Kids Anymore!!

Did you know there has never been a growing church that did not have a growing Sunday School?  It sounds extreme, but true!  Being a disciple of Christ is a life-long process.  Our spiritual journey continues and Sunday School classes feed us spiritually as we learn more about our Creator, how much He loved us and sent His Son for us and how to be a Christian in today’s world.  Below are brief descriptions of the Adult Sunday School classes offered at Saint Luke.  There’s one for everybody—find a class that you can attend today!

MOFFITT BIBLE CLASS— For men of all ages.  Organized in 1887, the class is named for its first teacher, Mr. T. R. Moffitt.  The class begins with coffee, fellowship and singing from The Cokesbury Hymnal.  Teachers rotate duties on a weekly basis using the Adult Bible Study Series.  The class meets in Room #222.  Contact Ted Beemer for more information.

WESLEY BIBLE CLASS— An inter-generational class of women.  The class was organized in 1922 and is named for John Wesley.  Class begins with members sharing mutual concerns.  Cards are sent to the ill and bereaved.  Reports are given of visits to shut-ins.  After singing a hymn, accompanied by the piano, the lesson and discussion from the Adult Bible Study Series is led by a teacher from a rotating team.  The outreach ministry of the class meets many local, conference and worldwide needs.  This class meets in Room #233.  Contact Kay Stout for more information.

TIMOTHY CLASS— The Timothy Class was organized in 2003.  Singles, couples, divorced, parents, non-parents are all prospects for this class.  Like Timothy, we are younger and desire to develop our spirituality by recognizing that we have much to learn, and then taking steps to learn.  We are an open door class that welcomes any and all and will have a focus of outreach and evangelism to non-churched people in our community.

LUCILE HUNTER CLASS—An enrichment class of spiritual guidance for women of all ages.  Lucile Hunter was a beloved teacher and leader.  The class is the successor of two earlier classes dating to the 1920’s.  Members work to be especially active and supportive of programs of the church.  This class meets in Room #235.  A team of three teachers rotates teaching duties on a weekly basis using the Adult Bible Study Series.

PARENTING CLASS— This class meets at the Harriss Youth House and is for parents of children of all ages.  Different curriculum is used throughout the year focusing on raising our children in Christian homes.  Contact Maxey Such for more information.

PARKER CHAPEL CLASS— This class for mature singles and couples meets in Room #234, the Parker Chapel.  In the early 1950’s, the class was organized as a young adult fellowship class by Rev. A. S.
